Prospect on the Rise

For the second time, Highland Park 2021 OT Jack Leyrer (6'6, 270) has been named the Prospect on the Rise.

Leyrer, who checks in at No. 53 in the DCTF Hot 100, picked up a new offer from the Texas Longhorns this week.

The last time we spoke about Leyrer on This Week in Recruiting, he had five offers (SMU, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Air Force, Dartmouth), and now he has 32!

The 'Horns join an impressive list that features schools like Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Northwestern, Stanford, Texas Tech, USC, Utah, Vanderbilt and more.

Commit of the Week

Katy Tompkins 2021 QB Jalen Milroe (6'2, 195) flipped his commitment from Texas to Alabama on Monday night.

Milroe is rated as the No. 15 overall prospect in the DCTF Top 100 and is the No. 1 QB in the state.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Milroe passes the eyeball test, and he's a quarterback who can make you pay running or throwing. His size and speed make him a lethal threat to score anytime he pulls the ball down to run, and he has a howitzer for an arm.

Underclassman of the Week

Southlake Carroll 2022 QB Quinn Ewers (6'3, 195) committed to Texas over offers from schools like Texas A&M and Ohio State.

Ewers was the first TXHSFB prospect in the Class of 2022 to earn five-star status and is rated as the No. 1 prospect in the state.

Ewers helped lead SLC to a 13-1 record in 2019. He completed 292-of-402 (72%) of his passes for 3,998 yards and 45 touchdowns and rushed for 583 yards and nine scores to earn 5-6A MVP and second-team all-state honors.

Recruit of the Week

Katy 2021 RB Brandon Campbell (5'10, 190) elected to opt-out of the 2020 season due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. He is the first major TXHSFB star to announce such news.

"I felt like it was just a long-term decision I needed to make for myself," he told TexasFootball.com. "First and foremost, I wanted to keep my family safe; my mom, my dad, my sister. With all this stuff going on with COVID-19, I thought it would be a good idea to take this year to get myself fully healthy and prepare my body, prepare myself mentally to enroll at USC."

The No. 51 rated prospect in the DCTF Hot 100 is verbally committed to USC, and the Trojans coaching staff supported his decision.
