Prospect on the Rise

Klein Forest 2021 RB Ahmonte Watkins (5'10, 175) added an in-state offer from Texas A&M this week.

Watkins now owns 20 scholarship offers with schools like Houston, Texas Tech, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado and Mississippi State, all challenging the Aggies for his signature.

Watkins, who transferred to Klein Forest from Riverside Academy in Louisiana, is known for his speed. He was the state champion in the 100-meter (10.71) and 200-meter (21.71) in 2019.

Commit of the Week

Conroe Oak Ridge 2021 LB KC Ossai (6'1, 225) committed to Arizona over offers from North Texas, UTSA, Louisiana, Nevada and more.

Ossai was the LB MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Ossai has spent time playing ILB and OLB in high school and is at his best when he is coming downhill. He is a very physical tackler.

Ossai is the younger brother of Joseph Ossai (Texas) and Phillip Ossai (Houston Baptist).

Underclassman of the Week

Lancaster 2022 WR Phaizon Wilson (6'3, 200) committed to Texas over offers from Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and more.

Wilson is not yet rated in the DCTF 2022 rankings. He figures to be a big part of the offensive puzzle for a Tigers offense that will also feature top wide receivers like Kansas commit Majik Rector and fellow 2022 top prospect Stephon Johnson.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Wilson has been mostly a camp and 7v7 evaluation to this point as he has only collected ten receptions in his high school career. Still, he is an imposing physical specimen with a plus catch radius. We had the opportunity to see him in game action for a few reps in 2019, and he was a willing and able blocker. Wilson is big and strong. He can handle smaller DBs, and he has shown strong hands as well.

Recruit of the Week

Pleasant Grove 2021 DT Marcus Burris (6'5, 260) named a top three of Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

Burris narrowed down to his top three from an impressive offer list that included schools like TCU, Texas Tech, Alabama, LSU and more.

Burris checks in as the No. 17-rated prospect I the Lone Star State and the No. 1 DT per the recently updated DCTF Hot 100

The four-star will miss his senior season with Achilles injury but had an impressive junior year in 2019, helping to lead PG to a 4A Division II state title. He racked up over 90 tackles and 13 sacks to earn Whataburger Super Team and all-state honors.
