The NCAA announced that Division II fall championships – including football – will be canceled and not made up in the spring.

"After reviewing and discussing the Board of Governors' directives, the Division II Presidents council made the difficult decision that holding fall championships in any capacity was not a viable or fiscally responsible option for Division II," said Sandra Jordan, chancellor of South Carolina Aiken. "The decision was discussed very thoroughly and I assure you, it was not made lightly."

The NCAA also gave guidance that athletes would be allowed to retain eligibility should an abbreviated season take place. Athletes would be allowed to play up to five regular season games in either the fall or spring and enter fall 2021 with full eligibility.

At this time, the Lone Star Conference is still scheduled to play fall football. However, Eastern and Western New Mexico opted out of play after guidance from the governor, leaving the LSC with six active teams.

The LSC still has the option to play a normal season in the fall, but no playoffs or championship will be held. The eligibility parameters would likely impact the decisions.
