Prospect on the Rise

Plano John Paul II 2021 QB Grayson James (6'1, 200) is continuing to impress.

James recently participated in the Elite 11 and took home QB MVP Honors at Camp Bullitt this weekend in Dallas.

He helped lead JPII to the state title game as a junior in 2019, passing for over 3,800 yards and 47 touchdowns.

James holds FBS offers from Texas State, Central Michigan, UAB and Louisiana-Monroe.

Commit of the Week

Frisco 2021 ATH Chase Lowery (6'0, 180) committed to Arkansas and kicked off a busy week of commitments in the Lone Star State.

Lowery picked the Razorbacks over offers from Texas Tech, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and more.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Lowery is a two-way standout who is starting to come on as a major D1 prospect. He plays with a high confidence level on the island at corner and uses his speed when playing receiver. Defensive backs with plus size are hard to find, so his upside as a prospect is likely higher on the defensive side of the ball.

There were 15 FBS commitments announced in the Lone Star State this week:

  • ATH Chase Lowery (Frisco) - Arkansas
  • OL Carlos Peoples (Cedar Hill) - New Mexico State
  • LB Jayhvion Gipson (Langham Creek) - Washington State
  • DE Jonathan Jones (McKinney) - Missouri
  • WR Carlton "CJ" Guidry (Shadow Creek) - Houston
  • WR Carl Chester (Manor) - ULM
  • S Roderick Hopes (Jefferson) - Tulsa
  • LB Dylan Hazen (College Park) - Wake Forest
  • QB Shedeur Sanders (Cedar Hill Trinity Christian) - FAU
  • S Cam'Ron Silmon (Cedar Hill Trinity Christian) - FAU
  • DE Jayden Gray (Eaton) - Iowa State
  • WR John Paul Richardson (Ridge Point) - Oklahoma State
  • WR Omari Walker (McKinney) - Arkansas State
  • ATH Jordan Johnson (Allen) - Hawaii
  • LB Kendrick Blackhisre (Duncanville) - Alabama

Underclassman of the Week

Katy 2022 DB Bobby Taylor (6'2, 180) named a Top 12 of Baylor, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma and USC.

Just days after announcing his list Taylor added a new offer from Georgia, a school that could mix things up.

Taylor, who is already rated as a DCTF four-star, reports that he plans to announce his commitment at the end of his junior year.

Taylor is the son of former NFL defensive back Bobby Taylor III, who played his college ball at Notre Dame.

Recruit of the Week

An underclassman is rarely named the Recruit of the Week, but Summer Creek 2022 OL Kelvin Banks (6'4, 275) had a huge week and deserved it!

Banks announced his decommitment from Oklahoma State and quickly picked up a new offer from Colorado. He now owns one of the most impressive offer lists with schools like Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Oregon and more.

The DCTF four-star prospect also earned invitations to the 2022 All-American Bowl AND the 2022 UA All-America Game.

Banks was the OL MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in January.
