CLASS OVERVIEW:

Baylor is on its way to signing a Top 25 national class. It has built a very well-rounded class pulling in impressive commitments on both sides of the ball, including Elite 11 QB Kyron Drones, who helped lead Alvin Shadow Creek to the 6A Division II state title in 2019. 14-of-17 current commitments are from the Lone Star State.

  • Biggest Get: RB Jordan Jenkins (Lindale)
  • Fan Favorite: QB Kyron Drones (Alvin Shadow Creek)
  • Under the Radar: WR Javon Gipson (Richmond George Ranch)

LATEST COMMITMENT

DT Byron Murphy II (6'2, 270) - DeSoto

Murphy is an interior defensive line prospect with good quickness off the ball and has an explosive first step. He uses his hands well to create separation. Murphy attacks with a bull rush most of the time but has plenty of quickness to escape blocks on the move. He moves well laterally as well and plays with a high motor.

The commits are listed in order from newest to oldest. Click on the DCTF Player Cards to see more info and watch highlights of each recruit.

WR/S Hal Presley (6'2, 195) - Mansfield Summit

Presley has impressive ball skills. He will get the contested ball, has a good catch radius, strong hands, and above average leaping ability. Gets off the line and accelerates quickly to top-end speed. Presley has some run after the catch skills.

WR Elijah Bean (6'5, 185) - Humble Atascocita

Bean possesses good speed and athleticism relative to his long and wiry frame. He is a deep, vertical threat who has the track speed to run by defensive backs and the leaping ability to high-point the ball—a dangerous combination of skills.

WR Roderick Daniels (5'10, 170) - Duncanville

The key to Daniels' game is speed. He is that lightning in a bottle type that can play at a high level consistently. He is not only fast but has the quick-twitch ability and accelerates to top speed in a flash. That combination of skills makes him very hard to tackle.

OG Tate Williams (6'4, 265) - Wall

Williams burst onto the radar out of nowhere. The small school star has the strength and size to dominate the line of scrimmage at the high school level. He also has the frame and upside to be considered a four-star recruit by some of the scouting services.

DE Cooper Lanz (6'3, 240) - Denton Guyer

The younger brother of former TCU offensive lineman John Lanz. Cooper plays with a chip on his shoulder. He understands how to use his hands and get off of blocks, and he is a sure tackler—a run-stopping specialist.

OC Connor Heffernan (6'4, 242) - Georgetown

Heffernan is an athletic lineman who projects as a true center at the next level. He easily secures blocks on the second and third levels. Heffernan is a technician who can run things upfront.

QB Kyron Drones (6'3, 200) - Shadow Creek

Drones a proven winner with a state title under his belt. He is a pass-first quarterback who is a reliable and effective runner when he pulls the ball down. He is a very smart and cerebral quarterback. Drones reads defenses well in the RPO scheme and has that arm to push the ball down the field.

RB Jordan Jenkins (6'1, 200) - Lindale

Jenkins is a bigger-bodied back who is a well-rounded football player. He is an excellent return man and can catch the football coming out of the backfield. Jenkins is hard to bring down in the open field and has enough speed to take it the distance.

S Romario Noel (6'3, 200) - Cy-Ranch

Noel is an exciting prospect. He is extremely athletic and agile for a player with his length and size. He is relatively new to the game, having played for only a couple of years. Noel shows good instincts for the game and has tremendous range.

S Cicero Caston (6'1, 196) - Weatherford

It does not take long to see that Caston is a knock-back, physical tackler coming downhill from his spot at safety. Receivers shod be afraid of coming across the middle of the field because he will make them pay. Continued development in pass defense will make him one of the state's best.

WR Javon Gipson (6'3, 180) - George Ranch

Speed is the name of Gipson's game. He is an elite track runner who can consistently and effectively track the deep ball when given the opportunity. Look for him to continue to improve his game with more opportunities in the passing game going forward.

ILB Tyrone Brown (6'0, 210) - West Orange-Stark

Brown is very athletic on junior tape and is, at times, dominant against the competition that he faces. He clearly stands out. He shows good athleticism in pass coverage and closes on the ball quickly.
