Hallettsville 2021 RB Jonathon Brooks (6'1, 181) decided to pick the Longhorns over offers from schools like Texas State, Texas Tech, UTSA, Colorado State and Louisiana.

Based on the offer list, some Texas fans may have a concern about Brooks' talent level, but they shouldn't.

It does not take long to see what type of player Brooks truly is, and the Longhorns were his very first scholarship offer.

Jonathon Brooks Scouting Report: The first thing that jumps out to you on the tape is Brook's footwork. He has swift feet, and his ability to cut on a dime makes defenders look silly as they are left grasping at the air where he used to be. He can make cuts and transitions without losing any speed or slowing down. He is strong and powerful enough to break tackles and finish runs versus 3A TXHSFB competition. He is an excellent receiver. He will line up as a wide receiver or in the slot and plucks footballs out of the air with ease.

As a junior in 2019, Brooks is credited with 216 carries for 2,144 yards and 39 touchdowns. He also caught six touchdown passes. He earned 14-3A Division I MVP honors.

Brooks is rated as the No. 53 prospect overall and the No. 6 RB in the 2021 DCTF Hot 100.

Brooks would quickly be joined by commit No. 11 in New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton 2021 WR Casey Cain, who had P5 offers from schools like Vanderbilt and Virginia.

Cain is the first out of state commit for the 'Horns in the Class of 2021.

Casey Cain Scouting Report: Cain is a long wide receiver with the type of frame that will hold good weight and size as he hits the Texas strength and conditioning program. He tracks the ball effortlessly. He shows the ability to climb the ladder vertically and snags the ball out of the air over the top of defenders. Smooth is a great descriptive word to use when describing his game. Warren Easton is one of the top programs in Louisiana.

Cain is rated as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite.
