Texas High 2021 LB Clayton Smith (6'4, 220) narrowed a lengthy offer list down to a Top Six: Texas, LSU, Florida State, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Oregon.
Smith had plans to announce his commitment at the 2021 All-American Bowl on Jan. 9 in San Antonio, Texas, but bumped his commitment timeline on to this Friday at 2:10 pm per an announcement on his social media.
"Well, sudden change," a source close to Smith's recruitment confirmed. "He's dropping it Friday at 2:10 pm."
Smith has programs in the Big 12, SEC, Pac-12 and ACC vying for his pledge, but the feeling is that this recruitment is a traditional Red River Rivalry recruiting battle between Texas and Oklahoma.
DCTF Prediction: Oklahoma
Smith is rated as a four-star prospect, checking in as the No. 10 prospect overall and the No. 1 OLB in the 2021 DCTF Hot 100.
