Nearly three dozen Texas football products heard their names called in the 2020 NFL Draft earlier this week and began their professional careers.

When the dust settled, 33 players who played Texas high school football were selected, along with two others who played exclusively college football in the state. Nineteen Texans were selected on the first two days, comprising three rounds and 64 picks.

The Houston and D/FW metro areas both tied with 12 selections each in the draft, headlined by No. 3 overall pick Jeffrey Okudah (South Grand Prairie) and No. 17 pick CeeDee Lamb (Richmond Foster). Six of the seven Texan picks were from one of the two big cities. East Texas was a strong third with four selections. The Austin, San Antonio, Abilene, Southeast and Central Texas regions produced a pick each.

In addition to the Texas high school football products, Texas wide receiver Collin Johnson (San Jose, Calif.) and TCU offensive tackle Lucas Niang (New Canaan, Conn.) were selected in the NFL Draft.
