Copperas Cove promoted assistant head coach Jason Hammett to its head coach on Monday.

Hammett came to Cove from Ennis with Jack Alvarez, who left his post as Cove's head coach after two seasons to take the same position at Cuero.

This will be Hammett's first head coaching gig and he'll be Cove's third head coach in four seasons. Jack Welch spent 24 seasons as the Bulldogs' head coach prior to Alvarez.

Hammett also spent time as an assistant coach at Corsicana.

He takes over a Bulldogs program that went 3-7 in 2019.
