Texas High School Football isn’t exempt from the impacts of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic that has much of the planet putting their life on hold in social distancing efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
With schools closed and ISD’s not doing business, most coaching searches are on hold at this time.
If the shutdown continues into April, its likely spring football for 6A and 5A programs will be cancelled and everyone will start up August 3. This means schools that originally planned on going through spring football will have to pair up and find a first scrimmage in August.
In addition, it appears the summer 7-on-7 circuit could be in jeopardy as well, especially if the spring sports season is extended well into June. This will be something we are monitoring as the situation develops.
