Tanner Wilson: If you could bring a cartoon character to play High School Football. Who Would you want?

Matt Stepp: Road Runner, speed kills and I’m also old….

Ashley Pickle: Dash from the Incredibles

Ish Johnson: Ed from Ed, Edd and Eddy is a superhuman specimen and will be the greatest running back to ever play.

_____

Aaron Arbuckle: If you could compare HS programs to Marvel/DC characters, which school would be who? Why?

Stepp: This is a better question for my kids, I don’t really follow that stuff…..I guess Carthage would be Superman???

Ish: Highland Park is 100% Batman because a lot of people judge them on a surface-level basis without realizing what actually makes them so impressive year in and year out.

_____

Jacob Jon: Who is your favorite non-football athlete to currently watch? (forgot athlete initially)

Stepp: It’s still LeBron James, with Luka Doncic a close second

Shehan Jeyarajah: Basketball is my first love, so this is an easy question. Trae Young and Zion Williamson are insane to watch right now and it makes me furious that Zion was born in 2000. Obviously, I have to give mention to LeBron and Steph Curry too. The level of talent in the NBA right now is absolutely unbelievable.

Pickle: NCAA MBB: Ryan Woolridge- Gonzaga

                NCAA WBB: Sabrina Ionescu- Oregon

                NBA: Lonnie Walker IV- Spurs

High School: Jake Pickle- Llano Tennis ??

Ish: Easily Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

_____

Dennis Clark: Was Jack Alvarez in over his head at Copperas Cove or did he escape a dumpster fire? Who will replace him?

Stepp: I don’t think its either, I think he left for what he perceived as a better job and he’s worked with the Cuero superintendent before and this business is all about relationships. As for who Cove goes after, they’ll have a great candidate list we are talking a one horse 6A town in a central location in the state. I think someone from the Jack Welch coaching tree would be a good place to start.

_____

James Ratcliff: Since it's Lent, favorite seafood or seafood places?

Stepp: If it swims, I don’t eat it.

Pickle:

  • Snoopy’s Pier in Padre Island, Texas.
  • Locally to the DFW- The Catch in Lewisville has some pretty good catfish, plus they don’t have a liquor license so there are free Hurricanes which is something I’m down for.

Ish: Anything salmon or tuna, I’m pretty basic when it comes to seafood.

_____

Layton Kincaid: When will the Aggies stop being anti-women and allow girls to be cheerleaders at a&m? it is 2020 you know. Female cheerleaders have been a thing for some time now.

Pickle: Coming from the only girl on staff- I wouldn’t say they are “anti-women” they have a deep rooted tradition in the Yell Leaders. If you are a high school cheerleader who’s dream is to cheer at the next level then you will choose to go to a different university. They don’t need to change that.

_____

TexasFootball.com Question: What's the best #txhsfb rivalry in your opinion?

Stepp: 1) Sherman vs Denison  2) Port Neches-Groves vs Nederland 3) Harlingen vs San Benito

Pickle: Growing up in Central Texas, Lake Travis vs Westlake was the mecca of TXHSFB rivalries.

Ish: Mid-County Madness with a side of Longview/Lufkin, give me a rivalry with history and big-time stakes attached to it.

_____

TexasFootball.com Question: If you were to run a 40-yard dash right now, what would your 40 be?

Stepp: Infinity

Shehan: Oh gosh. Probably like 6.5.

Pickle: Ya girl is a distance runner… not a sprinter…

Ish: Not fast

_____

@ColtonBMc: What’s y’alls uniform ranking for this Texas FBS teams for this year?

Shehan: That’s a good question. The No. 1 jersey in the state is the SMU Dallas jersey, to me. I don’t think anything else comes close. In terms of classic kits, the Texas Longhorns all whites are as good as it gets. I’ll throw North Texas’ white helmets-green jerseys-white pants as my third favorite look. Last on the list is the “blood” TCU jerseys they wore against Texas. They made no sense to me at all – but luckily, Gary Patterson doesn’t care what we think! I generally do like all the jerseys worn in the state though (especially since we’re finally moving away from gray alternates).

Pickle:  Definitely biased- the all black UNT unis are straight fire. Like seriously the matte black helmet with the green diving eagle… chef’s kiss. After that I would say SMU’s Dallas jersey’s, TCU’s black on black with the purple helmets, and then I’m a sucker for Texas’ home burnt orange on white.

Ish:

Going off of just basic home/aways:

Texas

SMU

Baylor

A&M

Tech

UTEP

Houston

Texas State

North Texas

Rice

UTSA

TCU

_____

TexasFootball.com Twitter Poll: Who will have the better statistical season in 2020: Sam Ehlinger or Kellen Mond?

Shehan: Statistically, I think it’s pretty easily Ehlinger. He plays in a more productive offense and his team relies a lot more on him than Texas A&M relies on Mond. If Ehlinger isn’t superb, the Longhorns won’t come close to bouncing back; there’s just not enough other proven weapons. That said, Mond could have a special year and quarterback the better team – we’re really high on Texas A&M’s potential in 2020, even if Mond isn’t the starring piece.

_____

@Russell44Jones: What are the best programs to never have won a state title. What are some one hit wonders to win a title but had never won before or after winning it all.

Stepp: Best programs to never win it all Hondo, El Campo, Corpus Christi Calallen, Harlingen, Childress. One hit wonders Lufkin, Texas High, Iraan, Odessa High

_____

@TheEnforcer26: What is Polytechnic(fort worth) chances to make the playoffs and what's something you like about them for the 20-21 season, overall record prediction?

Stepp: 4-5A Division II has a heavy favorite in Grapevine, they are head and shoulders above pack, after that you’d have to pencil in Creekview as number two. Then it gets tricky, North Side has had a renaissance a year ago and you add in South Hills who was competitive in Division I. Poly has an outside shot at one of the last two spots but the Parrots can not have injuries and they’ll have to play mistake free football in key swing games. As for strengths and weaknesses, once Coach Green gets that questionnaire into us we will have a better idea of the Parrots 2020 outlook.
