After playing on the offensive side of the ball for most of his high school career, South Oak Cliff ATH Jaydon Williams (6'2, 183) switched up. On offense, he played wide receiver, but halfway through his junior campaign, a change was made.

And that change has brought excellent results for his team and himself.

“I’ve pretty much played offense all my life, but I switched to defense my junior year, and I actually gained four offers from switching my position,” Williams said. “I’m an athlete, and I can play anything on the field, but I’m competitive and I like winning.”

It’s safe to say that the move that was made by the coaching staff along with Williams’ willingness has paid off. The 6-2, 183-pound outside linebacker quickly grew into the position logging over 30 tackles and five sacks.

After his tape made it’s way to the desks of college coaches around the country, in addition to those numbers, Kansas, Colorado, Illinois State and UNLV have extended offers to Williams.

At South Oak Cliff, there’s no doubt it will be a plethora of college coaches coming by, given the talent on hand. With Williams, he is at one of the positions coaches need every year.

“I can get pressure on the quarterback, and I can get stops when my team needs it and force turnovers,” Williams said. “We (South Oak Cliff) got a lot of talent, and we have been working very hard. We have a lot of good teams we are playing and have a good schedule coming up.”

That should produce more highlights for Williams as he will have an entire offseason to work on his craft at a new position. In addition to the offers he has, SMU, Tulsa, Oregon, USC and Missouri are showing strong interest.

For Williams, this is all new and all exciting. And it’s only the beginning.

“It’s a blessing because I never thought I would be here. For me, as long as it is a full ride, I’ll go anywhere,” Williams said. “Can’t really say I have a favorite place I want to go. I came from nothing, so I’ll go wherever I can go.”
