McKinney North 2021 WR JJ Henry (5'10, 155) was one of the most impressive performers at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase in Dallas. He really stood out during the 1-on-1 drills between the receivers and defensive backs. 

“Performance-wise I think I did pretty good. I honestly think I could have won MVP,” Henry said.

The talented receiver has a good blend of skills. 

“My route running ability, my speed, agility, and catching are all things I do well,” he said in regard to his strengths as a player. 

Those tools were all showcased during the NLA camp. His route running ability was on full display during the 1-on-1 session with the defensive backs. And his quick feet were noticeable in both footwork related drills and 1-on-1 work. His skill set combined with his size best fits the trajectory of a slot receiver at the next level.

McKinney North featured one of the most explosive offenses in the DFW area in 2019. A big reason why they were able to succeed at such a high level was because of Henry's outstanding play. 

Henry finished with 71 receptions, 1,397 receiving yards, and 18 total touchdowns, leading his team in receiving.

Looking forward to the 2020 season Henry has a chance to really make a big splash with his stock continuing to grow as a recruit. He wants to improve his strength, route running, and conditioning. 

Henry's recruitment has continued to pick up momentum. SMU, Texas Southern, Texas State, and Tulsa have all extended offers. 

The topic of recruiting is something that Henry likes to keep an open mind about when going through the process. 

“There’s no certain schools that I’m really interested in yet. I’m just letting it (the recruiting process) come to me,” Henry said.  

Henry reported that he admired schools like Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, and SMU growing up.
