South Grand Prairie 2021 LB Marsel McDuffie (6'0, 230) showed up to the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Dallas Camp at Southlake Carroll looking to get in some quality work against good competition on a Sunday that would feature plenty of it.

McDuffie is an impressive prospect to watch with his ability to diagnose plays and make a play on the ball from the middle of the field.

Two strengths of McDuffie that he takes pride in is his physicality on the field and his football IQ.  A quick watch of his 2019 film will feature those two traits as he often shows that he's not afraid to stick his nose on the ball and pop the ball carrier.

"Being a former quarterback, I can kind of recognize plays a little faster than most guys," McDuffie said.

"Some situations it takes over, and I make plays that I don't even know that I can make until it happens."

This offseason, McDuffie wants to focus on limiting his on-field mistakes and continue to build upon his leadership skills as a teammate in his final campaign as a South Grand Prairie Warrior.

One other tidbit to highlight is that Marsel is a two-sport athlete that not only has skills on the turf but the hardwood as well. It's always a plus when a player looks to keep his competitive nature flowing and shows a range of skills across multiple sports.

Schools showing the most interest are Baylor (offer), Georgia Tech (offer), Kansas (offer), Nebraska, SMU and more.

"Right now, Georgia Tech is at the top of the list," McDuffie said after he listed off the Yellow Jackets.

McDuffie really enjoys the family type atmosphere in Atlanta and what Geoff Collins is doing about building the Ramblin' Wreck program.

"Coach Choice and Coach Thacker, they check in with me, and they're building a bond. That's what I like," McDuffie said.

When it comes to the recruiting process, the quick-minded linebacker keeps an open mind, but he is looking for a place that fits him best, feels like home, and that'll help continue to grow him into being a good man.
