Prospect on the Rise

Duncanville 2020 CB Ennis Rakestraw (6'0, 170) pulled in a new offer from Texas. The Longhorns join an impressive post-signing day list that includes Baylor, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Arkansas.

Rakestraw announced that he has plans to take weekend official visits to SEC schools like Missouri, Alabama, and Georgia in January. A final decision could come on National Signing Day (Feb. 5).

Can Texas (under new defensive coordinator Chris Ash and cornerbacks coach Jay Valai) get Rakestraw on campus before the dead period?

Commit of the Week

Bellaire Episcopal 2021 OL Donovan Jackson (6'4, 308) announced a commitment to Ohio State.

Jackson picked the Buckeyes over offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Stanford and Texas A&M.

Jackson is rated as the No. 3 prospect in the DCTF Super 16.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Among the nation's elite offensive linemen in the 2021 class. Adequate height but outstanding length to project to tackle. Could also become an elite guard at the next level. Mirrors edge speed and uses foot quickness to gain advantages in the run game.

Underclassman of the Week

El Campo 2023 RB Rueben Owens (5'11, 175) added a new offer from Oklahoma this week.

The Sooners join an impressive early offer list that includes: UTSA, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma State and Oregon State.

Owens was named the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Rising Coverboy in the Class of 2023 in December.

Owens will attend the Next Level Athlete Top 100 Showcase in Houston on Jan. 18.

Recruit of the Week

Dallas Kimball 2021 CB Ishmael Ibraheem (6'1, 175) earned an invitation to the 2021 Under Armour All-America Game after a strong showing at the Pylon 7v7 event in Dallas.

Ibraheem is one of the state's most highly-regarded cornerback prospects because he has a unique blend of size, athleticism, and upside.

College have taken notice of his skills. He has earned an abundance of early offers: Baylor, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and more.
