2021 Powerhouse RB Leads Mart to Victory

Mart 2021 RB Roddrell Freeman (6'1, 210) had his coming out party in the Panthers' 25-20 win over Hamlin in the 2A Division II state title game. Freeman was named the Offensive MVP after rushing for 168 yards and three touchdowns.

"We had this goal all year, go 1-0 in this game, and we did that. It is just a blessing to be here," Freeman said. "I feel like it started the linemen. They did their job, and then I did my job to get first downs and move the ball."

Freeman has already secured his first Power Five conference offer from Texas Tech and reports that he also hears from North Texas. Freeman says schools are recruiting him on the defensive side of the football.

"It is a blessing," Freeman said of the Tech offer. "I have been doubted my whole life by people saying you can't do this or you can't do that. The first one being a P5 school is bigtime."

Coveted Grandview Talent Considering National Options

Grandview 2021 TE/DE Dametrious Crownover (6'7, 240) was easily the most physically impressive prospect to step on the field at AT&T Stadium on Saturday. It wasn't a surprise to hear he has already secured scholarship offers from some of the nations most elite programs like Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas A&M.

"It is great knowing that I have the option to go anywhere in the country and play college football," Crownover said.

Crownover reports that he took unofficial visits to Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas and TCU.

"The Baylor and Iowa State game was a good experience," Crownover explained when asked what visit stood out. "I like the way that they both went out there and played hard."

While most of Crownover's early visits have been to schools closer to home, he says that he does not have a problem with leaving the state if it was the right fit. He also says that he does not have a position preference at this point in his recruitment, but he does pattern his game after an offensive legend.

"Tony Gonzalez," Crownover said when asked about a player he idolizes. "I went back and watched a lot of his old stuff and watched him play in games and stuff like that."
