Dallas, TX: Today, Navy Football unveiled their newest limited-edition football honoring Navy Heisman heroes Roger Staubach and Joe Bellino for their December 14 rivalry against Army.  Custom crafted by Team Issue, the market leader in custom game-day footballs, Navy’s Golden Anchor ball was designed to honor Navy’s golden era of football featuring a gold foil-stamped, Navy anchor logo.  The retro logo is flanked by stamped signatures of Navy Heisman heroes, #12 Staubach and #27 Bellino who anchored their teams to glory in 1963 and 1960 respectively.  The 2019 season marks the 150th anniversary of college football and 140 years for the Midshipmen.

Best of all, the game footballs Navy will use against Army Saturday were actually used in the Staubach Family Turkey Bowl to break them in for the Mids. True football fans know leather game balls get better once they’ve seen some action.  What better way to get them ready for the Army Navy game than to let the Staubach’s take them out for a spin at Thanksgiving.

Continuing a tradition of making custom game day balls to honor Navy’s deep history and cherished institution, Team Issue founder Chris Calandro said, “We’re very proud to make the Navy Golden Anchor ball because this design not only honors heroes of the Navy gridiron, but also heroes who served our great nation.  And to break them out at the Staubach Turkey Bowl and see Roger slinging them was definitely a highlight!”

Navy AD of Equipment Operations, Greg Morgenthaler added, “We’re very excited to use the Golden Anchor Team Issue ball against Army because it honors two of our best and most cherished players and alumni.  Their presence is always with the program and now their winning spirit will be with us on the field.”
