Team of the Week:

UT Permian Basin Falcons (3-6, 1-5)

Last Week: UTPB overcame a 14-point deficit at halftime with a huge second half to defeat Eastern New Mexico, 48-38, at home last Saturday. Davion Sutton had 118 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and Marquis Simmons added 78 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Quarterback Clayton Roberts completed 11-of-20 passes for 182 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, while adding 36 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Freshman Jeremiah Cooley had a big receiving game with five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown and senior Kyle McBride only caught two passes, but both went for touchdowns, including a 47-yard touchdown to tie the game in the third quarter. Linebacker Chris Hoad had another massive game with 16 tackles, 10 solo, and 1.5 tackles for loss, while freshman Donta Stuart put the cap on the game with a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

The Verdict: This was the biggest win in the four-year history of the Falcons program. This is also the first time in program history that UTPB has won three games in a season. The Falcons have shown improvement all year and nearly had two other conference wins over good opponents before finding a way to finish the job last Saturday. UTPB may not be done adding to their win total this year as they have two games left and continue to be dangerous. Linebacker Chris Hoad passed 500 career tackles last Saturday to add another incredible achievement to his career. You can read more about the Falcons on texasfootball.com on Wednesday.

This Week: UTPB travels to play No. 24 Texas A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
