Lancaster 2020 CB Theron Stroops (6'0, 175) committed to Baylor back in June after a couple of unofficial visits.

Stroops feels comfortable with the coaching staff in Waco, and the Bears 7-0 start to the year has done nothing but strengthen an already firm verbal pledge.

"Solid, solid, solid," Stroops definitively said when asked about his commitment status.

"When I first went there, I felt so comfortable with the coaches and with the staff. So when I went again, I just felt the vibe they were showing. They were teaching me a lot of things that put me on my game."

Stroops is a talented defensive back prospect with the size and physicality to lock down the opposition's No. 1 wide receiver.

"I am a fast, physical corner," Stroops answered when asked about his strengths.

"I want to work on not letting the receiver attack my hips and cut them off when they do fade routes and slants."

Lancaster is off to a 7-1 start and checks in at No. 7 in TexasFootball.com's Week 10 5A-DI Texas High School Football State Rankings.

The Tigers defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game in 2019, including a run of four consecutive shutouts.

"I want to go to state, but we got to grind," Stroops said. "I thinkI am not going to say I thinkwe are going to be there."

Lancaster (7-1) has a showdown with Highland Park (7-1) on Friday night for the 6-5A DI district crown on Friday at 7:30 pm in Lancaster.
