UTSA quarterback Frank Harris will miss the remainder of the season with an upper body injury, head coach Frank Wilson confirmed to reporters on Monday.

Harris was spotted on the sideline in street clothes before the game against UAB last Saturday in a heavy sling. He has not played since suffering the injury in the second snap of the game against North Texas, a 45-3 loss.

Before he went down, Harris was a bright spot on an otherwise inconsistent UTSA offense. In three full games, he completed 72.5 percent of his passes for 486 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, including a 35-7 win over UIW.

Since the injury, UTSA has turned to former LSU quarterback Lowell Narcisse. In three starts, Narcisse has completed 43.5 percent of his passes for 264 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He’s also run for 302 yards and two touchdowns. Incumbent 2018 starter Cordale Grundy is also still on the roster.

Harris, a sophomore from Schertz Clemens was projected to be the starting quarterback in 2018 before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. He also missed much of his senior year of high school with injury issues.

During a healthy junior season, Harris earned all-state honors and was San Antonio Express-News All-Area Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 2,033 yards and rushing for 2,741 with 55 total touchdowns. He was considered one of the best overall recruits from the city of San Antonio.

UTSA has gotten out to a 2-4 start to the 2019 season, with wins over FCS UIW and one-win UTEP. The Roadrunners have matchups against Texas A&M, Southern Miss, FAU and Louisiana Tech left on a difficult schedule. ESPN’s Football Power Index projects the Roadrunners to be underdogs in every remaining game.
