North Texas quarterback Mason Fine has broken virtually every record in Denton. He added another one to the list on Saturday.
With a 68-yard touchdown pass to Jaelon Darden against Cal, Fine set the program record for career touchdown passes. The completion to Darden was his 70th career touchdown pass, passing former NFL veteran Steve Ramsey.
Under Fine, North Texas has experienced one of its top periods of success in FBS program history. The Mean Green won nine games each of the past two seasons, becoming the first UNT squad to do that since Hayden Fry was the coach in the 1970s.
In addition to career passing touchdowns, Fine is already the Mean Green's leader in career passing yards, single-season passing yards, single-season passing touchdowns and single-season total touchdowns. He is widely considered to be the greatest quarterback in North Texas history.
