Welcome to Inside the Numbers, a weekly look at Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s comprehensive computer rankings. Each week, we take a deep dive into that week’s Texas high school football computer rankings to sort out the signal from the noise.

CLASS 6A

At The Top…Overall, not a ton of movement in a chalky week. DeSoto’s drubbing of a good Dallas Bishop Dunne squad earned them a jump into the Top 10, and Allen slipped to No. 10 after scuffling against Coppell. Other than that, not a whole lot to see here.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: No. 228 Laredo Nixon

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: No. 43 Houston Lamar

Fastest One-Week Riser: No. 84 Mansfield (beat Mansfield Legacy 37-7, up 52 spots from No. 136)

Biggest One-Week Faller: No. 107 Mission (lost to Sharyland Pioneer 56-28, down 52 spots from No. 55)

Fastest Riser To Date: No. 49 Beaumont United (3-0, up 122 spots from No. 171)

Biggest Faller To Date: No. 183 Lakeview Centennial (2-1, down 94 spots from No. 89)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Katy over Duncanville by 11 points

DIVISION II: Longview over Austin Westlake by 2 points

CLASS 5A

At The Top…There’s another shakeup at the top of Division I, with Frisco Lone Star ascending to the top and Highland Park dropping to No. 4. Mansfield Timberview makes a big leap from No. 18 to No. 6, and College Station’s win over Huntsville earns them a spot in the top 10. Division II is much calmer, with South Oak Cliff’s move from No. 12 to No. 7 being the only real notable move.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: DI No. 98 San Antonio Burbank

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: DII No. 17 Marshall

Fastest One-Week Riser: DI No. 73 El Paso Bel Air (beat El Paso 62-0, up 39 spots from No. 112)

Biggest One-Week Faller: DI No. 100 Houston Austin (lost to Baytown Sterling 41-6, down 33 spots from No. 67)

Fastest Riser To Date: DII No. 30 Katy Paetow (3-0, up 53 spots from No. 83)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Frisco Lone Star over Alvin Shadow Creek by 4

DIVISION II: Aledo over A&M Consolidated by 6

CLASS 4A

At The Top…It’s chalk at the very top of Division I, but Van made a huge leap — No. 20 to No. 6 — as did Springtown (17 to 8) to make things a little interesting. Robinson is the big mover in an otherwise ho-hum DII ranking, going from No. 17 to No. 9, but watch out for Midland Greenwood, who’s up to No. 4 all of a sudden.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: DI No. 70 San Angelo Lake View

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: DII No. 18 Glen Rose

Fastest One-Week Riser: DII No. 31 Caldwell (beat Madisonville 12-6, up 21 spots from No. 52)

Biggest One-Week Faller: DII No. 47 Texarkana Liberty-Eylau (lost to Texas High 62-13, down 29 spots from No. 18)

Fastest Riser To Date: DI No. 16 El Campo (3-0, up 47 spots from No. 63)

Biggest Faller To Date: DI No. 77 Fort Worth Dunbar (0-3, down 38 spots from No. 39)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Argyle over Carthage by 2

DIVISION II: Pleasant Grove over Jasper by 11

CLASS 3A

At The Top…Division I is pretty much unchanged until you get to No. 8, where it has three movers in No. 8 Columbus, No. 9 Rockdale and No. 10 Crockett, who made a huge leap from No. 32. Division II is very, very chalky with the slight exception of Gunter’s return to the Top 10, which shouldn’t come as much of a shock.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: DI No. 89 Dallas Life Oak Cliff

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: DII No. 17 Childress

Fastest One-Week Riser: DII No. 63 Nixon-Smiley (beat Hallettsville Sacred Heart 19-0, up 24 spots from No. 87)

Biggest One-Week Faller: DI No. 50 Buna (lost to Coldspring-Oakhurst 42-12, down 25 spots from No. 25)

Fastest Risers To Date: DII No. 13 Friona (3-0, up 43 spots from No. 56) and DII No. 21 Ganado (3-0, up 43 spots from No. 64)

Biggest Faller To Date: DI No. 84 Kemp (0-3, down 45 spots from No. 39)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Wall over Grandview by 2

DIVISION II: Newton over Canadian by 13

CLASS 2A

At The Top…In Division I, the top 10 shuffled some spots but remained entirely unchanged as far as composition of teams, with Shiner making a move to No. 2 from No. 4 probably being the headliner. Though there was major chaos in Division II, the computer remains relatively unphased, considering everyone who lost did so to a bigger team. Mart even moved up to No. 2 from No. 6 with a loss, while Flatonia enters the Top 10 at No. 8.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: DI No. 62 Gladewater Union Grove

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: DII No. 27 La Pryor

Fastest One-Week Riser: DI No. 25 Bosqueville (beat Waco Reicher 60-12, up 25 spots from No. 50)

Biggest One-Week Fallers: DI No. 54 Cayuga (lost to Mount Enterprise 36-14, down 21 spots from No. 33) and DII No. 66 Frost (lost to Itasca 46-18, down 21 spots from No. 45)

Fastest Risers To Date: DII No. 26 Dawson (3-0, up 30 spots from No. 56) and DI No. 20 Ozona (2-1, up 30 spots from No. 50)

Biggest Faller To Date: DII No. 74 Iraan (0-3, down 50 spots from No. 24)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Refugio over Panhandle by 7

DIVISION II: Hamlin over Mart by 4

CLASS 1A

At The Top…There’s a new king atop Division I as Balmorhea is the new No. 1, setting up a tasty 1-vs.-2 matchup with Mclean this week. Crowell made a big jump into the top 10 from No. 21. Down in Division II, Strawn is back on top with Jayton nipping at their heels, while the rest of the top 10 remains largely untouched.

Lowest-Ranked Undefeated Team: DI No. 44 Leverett’s Chapel

Highest-Ranked Winless Team: DI No. 26 Nazareth

Fastest One-Week Riser: DII No. 31 Apple Springs (beat High Island 36-18, up 17 spots from No. 48)

Biggest One-Week Faller: DII No. 53 High Island (lost to Apple Springs 36-18, down 19 spots from No. 34)

Fastest Riser To Date: DI No. 11 Avalon (3-0, up 36 spots from No. 47)

Biggest Faller To Date: DII No. 48 Walnut Springs (1-2, down 26 spots from No. 22)

Projected Title Games Right Now…

DIVISION I: Balmorhea over Milford by 2

DIVISION II: Strawn over Jayton by 2
