Prospect on the Rise

Justin Northwest 2020 WR Zavion Taylor (5'9, 165) is off to a fantastic start in 2019.

Last week, Taylor collected 12 receptions for 309 yards and six touchdowns to earn a nomination for Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week.

Taylor has offers from Cornell, Furman, ETBU, Angelo State, Southern Nazarene and Bucknell, but if he continues to play at a high level, more doors may open.

In-state schools like Abilene Christian, Rice, Stephen F. Austin and UTSA have all expressed interest.

Commit of the Week

Denton Ryan 2021 DE Ja'Tavion Sanders (6'4, 220) committed to Texas on Saturday night following an unofficial visit to Austin for the LSU game.

The Longhorns lost but picked up a big win in Sanders who is a consensus four-star and one of the top-rated pass rushers nationally.

Sanders picked UT over Baylor, TCU, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and more.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Sanders definitely passes the eyeball test when you turn on the tape. He has really good athleticism, playing both sides of the ball (DE, TE/WR) as a junior. His highest upside may be on the defensive side of the ball, where he can apply pressure consistently on quarterbacks. He has a good get-off and uses hands well to maintain separation. Sanders displays above-average change of direction and can run down ball carriers in the open field.

Underclassman of the Week

Shadow Creek 2021 QB Kyron Drones (6'3, 200) is starting to establish himself as a big name to know.

In his first two games, Drones has racked up 677 total yards and scored 10 TDs.

Drones has the size and arm strength of a P5 recruit and he has already started to garner a lot of college attention.

Texas Southern has already extended an offer, but he could end up as one of the more highly recruited quarterbacks in the Lone Star State in the 2021 cycle.

Recruit of the Week

Lone Star 2020 WR Marvin Mims (6'0, 185) is off to a hot start. In two games he has collected 17 receptions for 478 yards and five TDs.

Mims is committed to Stanford and is rated as the No. 30 prospect in Texas per the DCTF Hot 100.

Mims and the No. 3 Rangers are set to face off against No. 1 Highland Park on Friday.

TWiR Game of the Week: South Grand Prairie vs. Lancaster

Lancaster will feature prospects committed to LSU (CB Lorando Johnson Jr./2020) Baylor (S Theron Stroops/2020) and Kansas (WR Majik Rector/2021). SGP is loaded with legit underclassmen, including WR Kelan Robinson who was the Underclassman of the Week a few weeks back.

Bluechip: Lancaster RB Tre Bradford
Top Underclassman: SGP WR Deamikkio Nathan - OR - Lancaster WR Phaizon Wilson
Sleeper to Watch: Lancaster DT Trayveon Newton
