Prospect on the Rise

Mansfield Lake Ridge's Tabor Allen (6'1, 180) is our first ever kicker to be named the Prospect on the Rise.

Allen nailed a last-second 36-yard field goal to propel the Eagles to a 47-44 win over Tulsa (Okla.) Union.

Allen also had an impressive offseason, earning the distinction of being named as one of the Top 12 kickers nationally by Chris Sailer Kicking.

Allen is known for a big leg, so keep an eye on his recruitment as things heat up down the home-stretch.

Commit of the Week

Beaumont West Brook 2022 ATH Bryce Anderson (5'11, 180) committed to LSU over offers from schools like Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

Anderson is one of the most talented, if not THE most talented player in his city. He scored 62 touchdowns as the JV quarterback in 2018 but is also a head-hunting safety, where he projects at the next level.

Anderson played safety for Team USA in the International Bowl, was one of the more impressive young defensive backs at the State 7-on-7 tournament in College Station, and posted an 11.02 FAT (Fully Automatic Time) in the 100-meter dash.

Underclassman of the Week

Kennedale 2021 S JD Coffey (6'0, 180) has been one of the most productive defensive backs in the state over the past two seasons, and his offer list is starting to take off.

Stanford is his latest offer, showing that Coffey has he has the skills on the field and in the classroom to perform at the highest levels in college.

The Cardinal join schools like Houston, Texas, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State as some of the early offers on Coffey's list.

Coffey has collected 12 interceptions in his two-year TXHSFB career.

Recruit of the Week

Rockwall 2020 WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (6'0, 185) collected 12 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns in a narrow week one loss to Highland Park.

Smith-Njigba is committed to Ohio State and is rated as the No. 10 prospect in the Lone Star State per the DCTF Hot 100.

Smith is one of 100 players who was recently named to the watch list for The 2019 Mr. Texas Football Player of the Year award.
