This Week in Recruiting (August 28)

Prospect on the Rise

Austin Anderson 2020 QB Carsten Groos (6'4, 212) has the requisite size, footwork, accuracy, and intelligence to run a multi-spread college offense.

Groos has Anderson poised for a run at the playoffs, and his offer list could start to take shape around that projected success.

Columbia was his first scholarship offer, but he camped at UTEP, Stephen F. Austin, and Kansas. He was the QB MVP at the SFA camp.

Commit of the Week

For the third consecutive week, the Commit of the Week belongs to the Longhorns.

Aldine Macarthur CB Joshua Eaton (6'1, 165) committed to Texas over Texas A&M.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: A rangy, long-framed two-way high school star who projects to the defensive backfield in college. A versatile defender who could play safety or corner. Eaton is an upside prospect who has the chance to develop into something special

Underclassman of the Week

Lubbock-Cooper 2022 OLB Kobie McKinzie (6'3, 230) is back on the market after decommitting from Texas Tech.

Soon after he made the announcement that he was backing away from his non-binding verbal pledge to the Red Raiders he picked up a new offer from Kansas.

Additionally, McKinzie also holds offers from schools like Texas A&M, North Texas, SMU, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Mckinzie was named as one of the Top 25 freshmen in Texas in the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Rising in December.

TWiR Game of the Week: Allen vs. Cedar Hill

The Landry Classic will feature two of the state's most intriguing teams. Allen is hitting the rest button up front on both sides of the football. Cedar Hill features a treasure trove of top-flight prospects on both sides of the football.

Bluechip: Cedar Hill OL Courtland Ford
Top Underclassman: Allen WR Bryson Green
Sleeper to Watch: Allen ATH Raylen Sharpe (SMU commit)
