Prospect on the Rise

The next quarterback in line at Lake Travis is 2021's Nate Yarnell (6'6, 195).

Yarnell will be playing behind Texas commit Hudson Card in 2019, but he should be considered as the state's most premiere back-up QB. He has already picked up early offers from programs like Houston and Tulsa.

While Card was participating in the Elite 11, Yarnell led the Cavaliers to a 4-1 record at the State 7-on-7 tournament, averaging 39.6 points per game.

Commit of the Week

Lufkin 2020 S Jerrin Thompson (6'0, 170) committed to Texas.

The four-star prospect picked the Longhorns over Arkansas and an abundance of other top offers.

Thompson is the No. 49 overall prospect in the state per the DCTF Hot 100.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Thompson is the total package at safety. A natural leader with tremendous coverage skills. He always seems to be around the football. Additionally, Thompson is a big-hitter who is not afraid to come up and lay the wood.

Underclassman of the Week

This week's underclassman of note is Denison 2022 RB Jadarian "JD" Price (5'10, 175).

Price was named as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Texas by 247Sports and picked up a new offer from USC.

Price, who rushed for over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns as a freshman in 2018, also holds offers from schools like Arkansas, Baylor, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas.

Denison will open the season versus Sherman. The game will be featured on a statewide broadcast by FOX Sports Southwest.

Recruit of the Week

This week we focus in on Shadow Creek 2020 DB Xavion Alford (6'0, 185).

Alford named a top two of Texas and Texas A&M, eliminating schools like Alabama and LSU from consideration.

Alford plans to announce his decision on August 31st. DCTF subscribers can see our predictions on where he commits HERE.

Alford is the No. 18 overall prospect in the state per the DCTF Hot 100.
