This Week in Recruiting (August 7)

Prospect on the Rise

This week we focus in on Longview 2020 DT Sawyer Goram-Welch (6'4, 275).

Goram-Welch picked up an offer from Oklahoma State after an unofficial visit to the campus. The Cowboys join schools like Texas Tech, SMU, Purdue, Rice and Tulane.

Goram-Welch collected 65 tackles and five sacks to help lead Longview to a state 6A-DII state championship win in 2018.

Commit of the Week

Duncanville 2020 S Chris Thompson (6'2, 200) committed to Auburn.

Thompson picked the Tigers in the SEC over offers from schools like Texas, Ohio State and USC.

It was a somewhat shocking announcement because many had him pegged to commit to the Longhorns and staying in-state to play his college ball, but the fit for him in the SEC at safety is ideal.

Thompson is the No. 8 overall prospect in the state per the DCTF Hot 100.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Thompson is one of the best open-field tacklers we've seen; he really brings it into the alley. He is very physical with real field strength when he tackles, and he fills fast. Good range in zone coverage, athletic enough to match up in man. Drops down to box well in run support.

Underclassman of the Week

This week's underclassman of note is North Shore 2021 WR Shadrach Banks (6'0, 205)

Banks made his commitment to Texas A&M over offers from schools like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State and Texas.

Banks is considered as one of the top wide receiver prospects in his class and was named as a top performer at the Next Level Athlete Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Banks is a pure physical specimen at wide receiver who does a little bit of everything well. He is explosive in the open field and can turn a short pass into a long touchdown. Banks is an able and willing blocker, a threat as a return man, and has blazing top-end speed.

Recruit of the Week

This week we focus in on Lancaster 2020 RB Tre Bradford (5'11, 190).

Bradford picked up a new offer from Ohio State to go with significant offers from schools like Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State.

The offer from the Buckeyes should be considered as one to watch closely. He has a high interest in the Big 10 and has already been on official visits to Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Bradford is the No. 20 overall prospect in the state per the DCTF Hot 100.
