The Weekly TXHSFB Recruiting Dump (July 17)

Prospect on the Rise

This week we focus in on Argyle Liberty Christian 2020 CB Collin Gamble (5'10, 175).

Gamble added an offer from Notre Dame after posting a film of himself clocking a 4.36 40-yard dash on social media.

Gamble recently named a top-five of Texas Tech, UTSA, Cal, Kansas and Duke, but the offer from the Irish could shake things up.

Commit of the Week

Oklahoma picked up a commitment from Gruver 2020 TE Jalin Conyers (6'5, 215).

Conyers picked the Sooners over offers from Georgia and Ohio State.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Conyers is an athletic specimen who could play tight end or defensive end in college, but has committed to OU to play offense. At this stage in his development, he is more of a threat in the passing game where he uses his superior athleticism to make plays.

Conyers is rated as the No. 29 prospect overall and the No. 1 TE in the DCTF 2020 prospect rankings.

Underclassman of the Week

This week's underclassman of note is Lancaster 2021 WR Majik Rector (5'9, 155).

Rector made a verbal commitment to play at Kansas over offers from Bowling Green, Illinois State, Rutgers and Seton Hill.

Rector, who projects as a slot receiver, was the WR MVP of the Next Level Athlete Top 100 Showcase in Dallas in January.

Recruit of the Week

Cy-Ridge 2020 DE Vernon Broughton (6'5, 275) pushed back his Monday commitment plans, but his decision could still come at some point this week.

Broughton, who is rated as a four-star prospect and checks in as the No. 1 DE in DCTF's 2020 prospect rankings, is evaluating offers from schools like Arkansas, LSU, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M.

Many believe the four-star defender is most seriously considering in-state offers from the Aggies and Longhorns.

Broughton was a DCTF Super Team selection and the DL MVP at the Next Level Athlete Top 100 Showcase in Houston.

NOTE: Broughton committed to Texas on Wednesday evening.
