On Sunday, Texas A&M added a new commitment from Southlake Carroll 2020 TE Blake Smith (6'4, 242). Smith picked the Aggies over offers from schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma State, TCU and more.

Smith – who also serves as the back-up quarterback for the Dragons – scored two touchdowns as a junior and helped lead his team to a 13-1 record and a district championship.

Scouting Report: Smith is a well-rounded product who moves well and has the requisite size and mass to project to the highest levels of college ball. He is an advanced blocker who can seal the edge and easily secure blocks on the second level. He is light on his feet and is able to get superior positioning. He is a smart player who can be utilized in multiple ways to gain advantages versus defenses because he understands positioning and he can line up in in a different variety of positions in multiple formations. Smith is not going to be described as an offensive weapon as a pass-catcher, but again he understands how to use his body and he also has soft hands, so he will get his hands on the football at opportune times.
