Flower Mound Marcus 2021 WR J.Michael Sturdivant (6'2, 185) is a high profile out of state transfer from Kansas who will help bolster the Marauders in 2019.

"They have taken me in like family," Sturdivant said. "It has been a brotherhood. Now, I am just ready to get to work."

Sturdivant is a high profile recruit, picking up offers from schools like Kansas, SMU, Boston College, Iowa, Illinois, and Arkansas.

Kansas was the first school to offer.

"I know they haven't been fantastic in the past, but with the coaching switch they are bringing in a new mentality, bringing in new recruits, and recruiting more players than they have before," Sturdivant explained. "I feel like the program will be good."

The timing of Sturdivant's move into the school district is ideal for Marcus because it has to replace No. 1 WR Marcel Brooks who signed with LSU.

Sturdivant brings some of the same qualities to the table.

"Personally, I believe my height and my size allows me to create a lot of separation when I am running routes," Sturdivant said. "I believe I run crisp routes and have good hands so I can catch the football."

What were Sturdivant's first impressions of Texas high school football?

"I've noticed that they take football a lot more seriously here," Sturdivant reported. "They even incorporate it into the school day, having a class period just for football. All the players love to compete to try and be the best that they can be."

Sturdivant has been laser-timed with a 4.67 40-yard dash.
