Prospect on the Rise

This week we focus in on The Colony DB Christian Gonzalez (6'1, 188).

Gonzalez named a Top 8 earlier this year (Texas Tech, Purdue, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Baylor, Ole Miss, Colorado, and Missouri) but has added some significant offers as schools have evaluated him this spring.

Just this week Gonzalez has secured scholarships from Florida, Miami (FL), TCU, Ohio State and Alabama.

Gonzalez collected up 29 tackles, nine PBUs, and an interception to earn first team all-district honors as a junior.

Commit of the Week

Texas Tech picked up a commitment from Lake Ridge 2020 OL Caleb Rogers (6'6, 270).

Rogers picked the Red Raiders over offers from schools like Arkansas State, New Mexico, and ULM.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: We have liked Rogers at all stops this off-season. He will need to add some strength and weight at the next level but has the tools to be a true tackle prospect. He has light feet and can move in the open field. We have seen him work at OT, OG, and OC and that versatility makes him a versatile addition.

Underclassman of the Week

This week we focus in on Flower Mound Marcus 2021 QB Garrett Nussmeier (6'1, 170).

Nussmeier added new offers from SMU, Penn State, Michigan State and Boise State, adding to a list that already featured LSU, Missouri, UTSA, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest.

Garrett is the son of Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach Doug Nussmeier.

Recruit of the Week

After picking up over 20 scholarship offers Fort Bend Austin 2020 WR Troy Omeire (6'4, 215) named a final four.

Three schools in the SEC and one from the Big 12 made the cut: Alabama, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M.

Omeire has all five of his NCAA allowed official visits remaining and currently has plans to visit all of the schools in his top four before announcing a decision.

As a junior, Omeire collected 46 receptions for 804 yards and 13 touchdowns to earn first team all-district honors.

News and Notes
