Prospect on the Rise

This week we focus in on Lamar Consolidated RB Taye McWilliams (6'1, 200).

McWilliams recently added new offers from Tulsa, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Houston.

McWilliams was one of the top performers at The Opening Houston where he posted a 4.48 laser-timed 40-yard dash.

Commit of the Week

Baylor picked up a commitment from Klein 2020 OLB Will Garner (6'3, 190).

Baylor was Garner's only offer but he was also receiving interest from schools like Houston, SMU, and UTSA among others.

The Bears picked up a unique prospect who spends time playing standing up and with his hand in the dirt. He is an upside prospect.

Next Level Scouting Report: "Garner stands up some and also plays with his hand on the ground as an edge DE. He has moderate twitch/pop/explosion but heading into this offseason he lacks the good strength and size of a true DE and lacks some nimbleness in space as an OLB. Offseason development was a key in his progression."

Underclassman of the Week

Pleasant Grove 2021 DT Marcus Burris (6'4, 285) picked up an offer from Arkansas.

The Razorbacks are Burris' first offer, but he is also receiving strong early interest from Texas. He took an unofficial visit to UT back in February.

Burris was named as one of the Top 50 Sophomores in the state in Dave Campbell's Texas Football's Rising Magazine.

Recruit of the Week

Tomball Memorial 2020 OL/DL Braedon Nutter (6'3, 287) made a commitment to Rice.

Nutter was a big commit for the Owls because Nutter picked the school over offers from Colorado, Houston, Yale, Illinois State, Columbia, Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Princeton, Air Force, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulsa, UAB, Cornell, and Army.

Nutter is an exciting prospect because he could realistically play on the OL or the DL in college and has continued to train at both spots in the offseason.

News and Notes

  • Class of 2020 DE Jamal Ligon from Tyler Lee committed to North Texas.
  • Class of 2020 OT Casey Collier from Barbers Hill committed to Minnesota.
