To say Rockwall head coach Rodney Webb is a big fan of the Orji family would be like saying Texans sort of enjoy Whataburger on a Friday night after a game. Yes, a massive understatement in both cases. Coach Webb has now enjoyed coaching two of the three brothers – Alston and Anfernee – with a third just a freshman. Anfernee, who joins his older brother at Vanderbilt in the Fall, finished his senior season in style. Not only was he an outstanding linebacker for the Yellowjackets, but he was the senior class president and as Coach Webb explains, truly set the standard for his program.

“He’s meant so much to our program. Anfernee is such a versatile kid on and off the field. He’s a tremendous leader on our campus and made us better in every way possible,” Webb says. “This is a kid who never ever has a bad day. He’s always upbeat. And that feeling is contagious for the whole team and the coaching staff.”

Anfernee will likely play safety or linebackers in Nashville and can’t wait to the season opener, a game against SEC powerhouse, Georgia. “What an amazing way to kick off things. I’m really looking forward to playing in the SEC and playing for Vanderbilt.”

His legacy at Rockwall will not soon be forgotten nor will he forget his hometown. “I remember in elementary school watching the high school football players and thinking they were basically superheroes. I couldn’t wait to play for Rockwall. They’ve got the best fans, the best community and the best game day experience in the nation.”

A math whiz who says he loves how math always leads you to one clear answer, Anfernee says he’ll likely pursue a career in engineering. When it comes to giving one clear answer for what order at Whataburger he prefers, that would be sweet and spicy bacon burger. As for his coach, the answer is Whataburger with cheese, jalapenos and grilled mushrooms.
