This weekend Texas added a new commitment from Port Neches-Grove 2020 OL Jaylen Garth (6'4, 290)

Garth picked the Longhorns over offers from schools like Texas A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Texas Tech, Baylor, and more.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report:

Garth has polished up his basic O-line fundamentals. He has a nice, crisp kick-slide and anchor to get depth on his pass set to go with has good pass set posture. He does a  decent job of keeping hands inside to punch and control defensive linemen. Chips well and keeps his shoulders square to combo to the second level and cover linebackers. Seems to maintain a good base and balance in both run and pass sets. Garth needs to improve strength and hip snap on contact when one on one base blocking.

Garth is an offensive lineman who does a bit of everything and does it well. He mirrors defensive linemen and keeps his quarterback's jersey clean. He is strong and athletic as a run blocker and secures blocks in the open field naturally. He is quick enough to match up with linebackers. Garth understands basic combo-blocking principles and is already utilizing them at the high school level.

Garth is more naturally suited to play inside at the college level as a guard. His ability as a pass blocker should translate well to the Big 12.

We project Garth as a four-star prospect, which would cement him as a Top 50 TXHSFB talent.
