San Angelo Central 2019 QB Maverick McIvor (6'2, 195) announced that he was recommitting to Texas Tech on Thursday morning.

"Considering numerous talks with God, family, and coaches, I have made my decision to recommit to Texas Tech,"  McIvor reported. "I can’t wait to see what my future holds and I’m excited to start my journey in Lubbock!"

McIvor decommitted from Tech after the school parted ways with former head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury was named as the offensive coordinator at USC and many speculated that McIvor would join up with Kingsbury at USC after the Trojans extended him an offer.

McIvor is the 15th known verbal commitment for the Red Raiders in the Class of 2019 and the lone QB on the list. He will join QBs McLane Carter, Jett Duffey, and Alan Bowman on the Red Raiders QB depth chart.

Next Level Athlete rates McIvor as one of the top-rated QB prospects in the state and he starred at the Top 100 Showcase earlier in the year.

Maverick McIvor Evaluation: McIvor is able to throw in horizontal and vertical windows with confidence and accuracy. Love his clock, accuracy and snap release on medium to short game. Still working on deep ball air/accuracy, now getting ball downfield with length with hip snap. Very athletic out of pocket. He completed 85% of his passes in the one-on-one portion of the camp. He has the pocket presence of a confident athlete at QB with natural instincts and evasive movements in and out of pocket. Great feet in setting up to throw. Can also throw accurately off balance and is very good at driving the ball down the field.

McIvor is the son of former Texas Longhorns QB Rick McIvor.

In 2017, McIvor completed 62.8 percent of his passes and racked up 3,518 yards of total offense and 35 TDs.
