Four days after Texas Tech named Matt Wells head coach Houston Lamar 2019 CB Alex Hogan (5'11, 165) announced that he was decommitting from the Red Raiders. But reconsidered the decision and hosting Wells, new defensive coordinator Keith Patterson, and DB coach Julius Brown on an in-home visit.

He deleted his decommitment Tweet and announced that he was once again a Red Raider on Monday afternoon.

"This is home," Hogan simply stated.

Hogan is the 14th known commitment for the Red Raiders in the Class of 2019. Currently, he is the only DB commit after North Shore's Keeyon Stewart and Temple's Markel Reed announced their decommitments in the wake of the coaching shakeup.

New Texas Tech DB coach Julius Brown coached at Troy, Arkansas State, and Boise State before joining Matt Wells at Utah State in 2016. In 2018, Utah State was rated No. 1 in NCAA in passes intercepted and was No. 26 in passing efficiency defense.

Brown coached Darian Thompson, who was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the NFL draft in 2016 and All-American DB Jalen Davis at Utah State in 2017.
