Texas State tight end Keenen Brown will declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, the fifth-year player announced on his Twitter account.

Brown was recently awarded an additional year of eligibility, his sixth, after dealing with injuries during his redshirt freshman season at Oklahoma State. However, Brown will forego that eligibility and declare for the draft anyway.

The Alief Taylor product joined Texas State as a graduate transfer from Oklahoma State in 2018. He almost immediately established himself as the best offensive player on the roster.

Brown caught led the Bobcats with 51 catches for 577 yards and five receiving touchdowns. His yardage mark was best in the Sun Belt. Former offensive play caller Brett Elliott found a multitude of ways to get Brown the ball, including on jet sweeps and out of the Wildcat. Brown caught for 75 yards and two touchdowns on eight attempts.

For his efforts, Pro Football Focus named Brown to their first-team All-America team at tight end.

With Brown gone, the Bobcats are now losing their top two tight ends. TIght end Elijah Rogers was also a senior. He caught five passes for 36 yards. It’s unclear how much new head coach Jake Spavital will use the tight end in his air raid offense.
