Texas A&M will face off against North Carolina State in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 31. The game will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Fla., and be broadcast live on ESPN.

The Aggies finished second in the SEC West after upsetting LSU 74-72 in the highest-scoring college football game of all time in seven overtimes. Texas A&M is in the midst of its first season under new coach Jimbo Fisher, who signed a $75 million contract to lead the Aggies back to national relevance.

Their first postseason appearance comes against North Carolina State. The Wolfpack are in a bowl game for the fifth straight season under head coach Dave Doeren. NC State finished with a 9-3 record, but only beat two Power Five teams that made bowl games.

Wolfpack quarterback Ryan Finley is considered a top NFL prospect after completing 67.9 percent of his passes for 3,789 yards, 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Texas A&M secondary, which has been a weakness all season, will be put to the test against a quarterback who will be playing on Sundays next season.

North Carolina State and Texas A&M have never faced off in program history. However, Fisher had a 5-3 record against the Wolfpack as head coach at Florida State. The Aggies have also lost their last three bowl games under Kevin Sumlin and interim coach Jeff Banks.
