Baylor football will face off against Vanderbilt in the Texas Bowl. The game will take place at 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 at NRG Stadium in Houston, and be broadcast live on ESPN.

The Bears earned a trip to a bowl game despite winning just one game a year ago. With the bowl, the Bears have now appeared in postseason play for seven of the past eight seasons. This is the first bowl game of the Matt Rhule era.

Baylor also played in the Texas Bowl in 2010. It was the Bears' first bowl game since 1994, and helped set off a long bowl streak.

Vanderbilt earned a 6-6 record after beating Tennessee 38-13 in the season finale on Nov. 24. The Commodores sat at 4-6 heading into the final two games, but managed to pull them off. Their losses are against ranked Notre Dame, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky and unranked South Carolina. This is Vanderbilt’s second bowl game under Derek Mason.

Baylor and Vanderbilt have played twice in program history, with the games coming in 1953 and 1954. The Bears won both of the matchups.
