District play has finally arrived, with 14 districts across Class 1A kicking off district play in Week 7. Here is a quick review.

In District 3-1A Division I, Crowell defeated Knox City 95-73 in what may turn out to be a wild district.  Crowell QB Seth Bearden threw for 366 yards and 8 touchdowns in the victory, and Michael Reeves added 98 passing yards, 137 rushing yards with 3 rushing TDs, and three catches for 137 yards and two scores. Crowell had three 100-yard receivers on the night. Elsewhere in that district, Northside defeated Chillicothe 56-0 to remain undefeated.

In District 9-1A DI, Savoy handed Saint Jo its first loss of the year on a muddy night. The Cardinals trailed 45-44 with 10 seconds remaining, but dialed up a perfectly executed hook-and-lateral play — QB Johnny Stonet to center Braden Dillon to RB Patrik McCauley — for the game-winning 43-yard score.

Up in District 5-1A DII, Grandfalls-Royalty and Sierra Blanca earned district opening wins. Grandfalls pulled away late to beat Sanderson 42-24, while Sierra Blanca’s defense led the way in a 32-12 win over Dell City. In division two district five Grandfalls-Royalty and Sierra Blanca recorded wins in their district openers against Sanderson and Dell City (Buena Vista was idle).  In what was a one-point game for most of the first half Grandfalls pulled away late to defeat Sanderson 42-24, and in a low scoring game Sierra Blanca defeated Dell City 32-12. This might be the hottest-contested district in Division II.

District 15-1A DII got off to a fun start as Blanket took down Brookesmith, 33-12. That may prove to be for the top two seeds in the district, though Sidney is quietly 6-1 after a 60-12 win over Mullin.

In non-district action, White Deer fell from the ranks of the unbeaten as Union Hill took down the Bucks, 52-45, in a muddy contest. This was a playoff-type game that was tight from start to finish. White Deer surged to take a 45-36 lead with three minutes to play, but Union Hill responded with a quick touchdown and a defensive stop. Then, Keelon Caffey powered in for a go-ahead touchdown with 55 seconds left to pull out the win for Union Hill. Caffey finished with 157 yards and two scores on the ground.

And a shoutout to Silverton, which logged its first win of the year with a 79-34 win over Loop.
