If you've been reluctant to hop on the North Texas bandwagon thus far in 2018, there may not be any room left after what Seth Littrell's team did to Chad Morris' Razorbacks in a stadium that was booing and half empty by halftime. 

Seize the moment

This was not a stunning win, plenty of pundits had picked the Mean Green to sneak across the border undefeated. It was the nature of the win that was so impressive. It could not have been clearer that every person wearing green was locked in and ready to make a statement. The bum rush came to a head early in the first quarter when Keegan Brewer pulled off a designed fake fair catch punt return for a touchdown. It put North Texas up 14-0, and they added a field goal to go up 17-0 after one quarter.

The defense appears to be moving on from 2017

Speaking of getting after it, North Texas recorded six (!) interceptions. The defense also delivered countless big hits deep into the fourth quarter, showing a zeal we never quite saw from the unit last season. It seemed last year that if you were going to beat North Texas, you could outgun them. This year, the defense may make it impossible for teams to keep up with the firepower of the offense, led by a quarterback who continues to shine in big moments.

Fine rises the occasion

If we're throwing hats into a ring for cover honors on next summer's Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, this is the earliest one. A few North Texas fans had "Fine 4 Heisman" signs in the stands, and who could blame them? Facing an SEC opponent on the road, Fine was by far the best player on the field, throwing for 287 yards, a touchdown and rushing for another score. He took countless hits (something he and the offensive line will need to work on going forward), but continued to get up and attack, even after suffering a bloody nose in the second half.
