Texas A&M linebacker Anthony Hines III will miss the 2018 season with a lower body extremity injury that he suffered against No. 2 Clemson on Saturday, according to head coach Jimbo Fisher. 640 tackles, 96 TFLs

Hines missed the first game of the season against Northwestern State with the same injury. He came back against Clemson, but did not record any stats before leaving with an apparent injury.

Hines took to Twitter to let fans know that he'll be okay, and that he's already focused on dominating in 2019.

The loss is a huge dent in the Texas A&M linebacker corps. Hines was the listed starter at weakside linebacker. Former starter Buddy Johnson will slip into the starting role again next to Tyrel Dodson and Otaro Alaka. However, the backups are very inexperienced. Converted safety Larry Pryor is next in line.

Sophomore linebacker Ikenne Okeke was previously ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

Hines was impressive in his first season in College Station. He posted 33 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks in a reserve role. For his efforts, Hines was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.

Previously, Hines was an astonishingly productive linebacker from Plano East. In a standout four-year career at Plano East and the Episcopal School of Dallas, he posted 640 tackles and 96 tackles for loss. As a senior, he posted 220 tackles, 38 tackles for loss and five sacks and earned a spot on the Dave Campbell’s Super Team.

Since Hines played fewer than four games, he will be eligible to redshirt the 2018 season without applying for a medical redshirt.
