We saw many low scoring six-man games across the state last week thanks in part to field conditions caused by rainy weather including one of the biggest games between Blackwell and Highland in the battle for Nolan County six-man supremacy.  Blackwell held a slight lead 13-6 at halftime and held on to win by three points as Highland scored as time expired to make it 27-24.  PATs in six-man are crucial…Blackwell added three points to Highland’s zero in this category making all the difference.

In another great matchup and being tied up at 20 at the half, Crowell’s defense stepped it up in the second half as they slipped by Leakey 34-20 on a rain soaked field in Santa Anna Saturday.

The biggest upset of the week was also low scoring by six-man standards as the Blum Bobcats shocked the back to back state runners up Jonesboro Eagles 48-6 making it only the second time in the past five years that Jonesboro has lost a regular season game.  Holding a team like Jonesboro to just six points is pretty incredible…watch out for Blum…this might be their year!

In another hard fought, low scoring, battle between panhandle juggernauts, DII Follett edged out DI Valley 38-30.  The Panthers move to 2-0 while the Patriots are 1-1.

Bronte played their first ever six-man home game as the Longhorns defeated Loraine 60-27.  RB Garrett Knight put together an impressive stat line rushing for seven touchdowns and 262 yards on 20 carries while throwing for another touchdown and logging 13 tackles on defense just for good measure.

Don’t look now but the Northside Indians, riding high in the saddle after their big upset win over Throckmorton in week one, are 2-0 now as they defeated Woodson 64-20 last week.  They are in a tough district, but look to be a solid dark horse pick at this early juncture in the season.

DII #1 Strawn found their winning ways after falling to now #1 ranked DI McLean back in week 1 as the Greyhounds beat Gorman 53-6.  McLean retains their #1 ranking as well as they crushed Groom 72-14 at halftime.
