Week 6 Winner: Pearland RB Dustin Garrison

Three turnovers almost cost Pearland a key District 22-5A game against La Porte last Friday, but the Oilers were bailed out by junior running back Dustin Garrison.

Garrison ran for 306 yards and two touchdowns as Pearland escaped with a 27-24 victory. Garrison's touchdowns came on runs of 70 and 97 yards.

La Porte had a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter, when Garrison took the handoff from his own 3 and outran the defense for the back-breaking touchdown.

With the win, Pearland (5-1, 3-0) remained in first place in district, while La Porte (3-2, 2-1) suffered its first district loss. For the season, Garrison has 764 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

For his efforts, Garrison is this week's TexasFootball.com Player of the Week, as voted on by website readers.
