Army Strong Teams of Week 4

Each week, TexasFootball.com and the U.S. Army join together to select one team from every classification in high school football that demonstrated the qualities exhibited within the Army - those include leadership, commitment to excellence and a desire to make a difference as a member of a team. Each is awarded the Army Strong Team of the Week by local officials from the U.S. Army at a school assembly or pep rally.
CLASS 5A: Round Rock Round Rock played crosstown rival Round Rock McNeil in a quadruple-overtime thriller on Friday, and Round Rock emerged with a 41-35 victory. It was the longest game in both schools' history. Round Rock prevailed by stopping McNeil one foot short of the first down marker on a fourth-down play in the fourth overtime. CLASS 4A: Lancaster Lancaster was picked sixth in its district in the pre-season, but the Tigers haven't played like a sixth-place team. They improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in district play Friday with a convincing 42-21 win over previously unbeaten West Mesquite. Freshman QB Nick Harvey rushed for 224 yards and three TDs in his first career start. CLASS 3A: Gonzales Gonzales, coming off a 1-9 season in 2009, maintained its unbeaten record with a convincing 41-16 win over Yoakum. Gonzales shut out Yoakum in the second half to win their District 28-3A opener and improve to 5-0. Gonzales was winless in district play last year. Gonzales' Kendrick Cray scored on a kickoff return and a 52-yard run. CLASS 2A: Redwater Redwater had two 100-yard rushers and finished with 342 rushing yards as the Dragons knocked off state-ranked Linden-Kildare, 21-12. Dewey Fleming ran for 131 yards, and Dorian Hawkins rushed for 106 more to lead Redwater. Teammate Cole Yeldell wasn't far behind with 98 rushing yards. CLASS 1A: Claude Claude's Jeremiah Hughes rushed for 178 yards and three touchdowns as the Mustangs defeated Booker, 44-28. Led by new coach James Lane, Claude is now 3-2 on the season after entering 2010 on a 28-game losing streak. SIX-MAN: McLean McLean's Clay Crockett rushed for 285 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 64-14 win over previously unbeaten Lefors, a top-10 team in Six-Man Division II. McLean improved to 4-1 on the season. PRIVATE SCHOOLS: Austin Regents Austin Regents' Salim Hajar kicked a 22-yard field goal in the second overtime as the Knights outlasted TAPPS powerhouse Dallas Christian, 40-37. Regents' Dawson Gamble intercepted a pass to end Dallas Christian's possession in the second overtime. With the win, Regents improved to 5-0 on the season.
