Dave Campbell's Texas Football, along with both Wranglers and Cavenders, is proud to give a weekly Player of the Week award to the most deserving high schooler in the state of Texas. Every Monday at noon, TexasFootball.com will announce ten candidates for that week's award, based on the previous week's on-field performance. Fans can vote online at TexasFootball.com's online poll, where you can see the current vote standings. Voting will close at noon each Friday, with the winner being announced shortly afterward. The award will be given every week through Week 13. Check this page every week to view the full list of ten candidates and the details of their most recent performance.
This season, each weekly winner will be automatically nominated for the Player of the Year award, presented with Cavenders, Wrangler and the Texas Bowl. Those candidates will be announced in Week 13, and voting for that award will continue until the end of the high school season.
Week 11 winner: Springlake-Earth QB Blake Betz
Springlake-Earth quarterback Blake Betz made sure the Wolverines got off to a good start in the 2010 Class 1A Division II playoffs when he almost single-handedly guided the team to a 42-0 first-round win over Seagraves.
Betz rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown and also passed for 176 yards and three scores as Springlake-Earth bounced back from a Week 10 loss to district rival Farwell.
Betz threw two second-quarter TD passes as the Wolverines jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead. He threw another TD pass in the third quarter, then capped the scoring with a 43-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Springlake-Earth piled up 511 total yards while limiting Seagraves to 147 yards.
For the season, Betz has now surpassed 1,500 passing yards and has scored 19 touchdowns. Springlake-Earth takes on Wellington tonight in the second round of the 1A DII playoffs.

Jakeem Grant, Mesquite Horn WR: Had 135 receiving yards, 3 TDs, and 62 rushing yards, 2 TDs in a 48-14 win over Copperas Cove.
Keshawn Hill, Klein RB: Rushed for 247 yards, 1 TD in a 44-38 win over Lufkin.
Jeremy Jackson, Newton RB: Rushed for 256 yards, 3 TDs in a 69-35 win over White Oak.
Deshun Laurent, Houston Worthing WR/K: Had 169 receiving yards, 2 TDs, and 108 rushing yards, and kicked the winning FG in a 16-13 win over Houston Austin.
Josiah Monroe, Bastrop QB: Passed for 501 yards, 4 TDs in a 55-34 win over Corsicana.
Reid Oden, Highland Park LB: Had two interceptions, including one he returned 25 yards for a TD, and a fumble recovery in a 49-7 win over Frisco Centennial.
Brelyn Sorrells, Austin Bowie RB: Rushed for 367 yards, 5 TDs in a 35-17 win over Georgetown.
Mykkele Thompson, SA Stevens QB: Rushed for 239 yards, 4 TDs in a 45-21 win over SA Southwest.
Zach White, Littlefield WR: Caught four passes for 196 yards, 3 TDs in a 47-0 win over Denver City.
