Week 3 Player of the Week
09/23/2009

After every weekend of the Texas high school football season, visit this page to find out the candidates for the Player of the Week Award. This honor is awarded to the top performance of the week in Texas High school football. Voting will begin every Monday morning and close Friday at noon.

Week 3 winner: Levelland QB Ramiro Del Campo

Levelland quarterback Ramiro Del Campo made sure that the Lobos would give coach Gary Gutierrez his first victory by singlehandedly taking over last week's game against Brownfield.

Del Campo ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns and also passed for 198 yards and three touchdowns as the Lobos improved to 1-3 with a blowout victory.

It was by far Del Campo's best rushing performance of the season, but his passing has been pretty consistent. He has passed for 469 yards and two touchdowns in four games.

Del Campo was voted Texas Football's Player of the week in fan voting on www.texasfootball.com. Levelland went 3-7 last year and is trying to return to being a consistent playoff team. Gutierrez led 4A Houston Sharpstown to the playoffs each of the past two seasons before moving to West Texas.

Del Campo returns returns to the field Friday night to lead Levelland against Amarillo Caprock.
