The Southwest's Leading Football Source Since 1960 sign in
Week 10

Dave Campbell's Texas Football, along with both Wranglers and Cavenders, is proud to give a weekly Player of the Week award to the most deserving high schooler in the state of Texas. Every Monday at noon, TexasFootball.com will announce ten candidates for that week's award, based on the previous week's on-field performance. Fans can vote online at TexasFootball.com's online poll, where you can see the current vote standings. Voting will close at noon each Friday, with the winner being announced shortly afterward. The award will be given every week through Week 13. Check this page every week to view the full list of ten candidates and the details of their most recent performance.

This season, each weekly winner will be automatically nominated for the Player of the Year award, presented with Cavenders, Wrangler and the Texas Bowl. Those candidates will be announced in Week 13, and voting for that award will continue until the end of the high school season.

Week 10 Winner: EP El Dorado QB Josh Huerta

Josh Huerta has been dominating District 1-5A play all season long, but his strong performance in Week 10 — 442 passing yards with five touchdowns in a win-and-in game with EP Americas — is the cream of the crop.

Huerta sits at the helm of a potent offense that has been stellar all year long, and now his group has a chance to continue the city's strong postseason play of late. Huerta looks like a good choice for district MVP — along with TE M.J. McFarland — and could become an all-region type performer if his team plays enough playoff games.

Congratulations to Josh from TexasFootball.com, Cavenders, Wrangler and everyone associated with the Gridiron Legends Player of the Week award.
