Army Strong Teams of Week 14

Class 5A: Cypress Woods
In only its second varsity season, Cypress Woods reached the 5A-I Region II final with a shocking 28-21 upset win over a powerful Skyline team. Cy Woods scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to rally for the lead, then intercepted two Skyline passes in the final minutes to secure the win. Skyline, with 12 FBS recruits, hadn't had a pass intercepted all season.

Class 4A: Waxahachie
Waxahachie prefers low-scoring games, but against Highland Park's high-octane offense, the Indians got involved in a shootout and emerged with a 49-35 win. Waxahachie WR Ladarius Brown had three touchdown catches in the game and Waxahachie piled up 319 rushing yards to advance to the Class 4A-I Region II championship game.

Class 3A: Wimberley
Wimberley was only 6-4 in the regular season, but the Texans picked the right time to get hot. They've now won three playoff games after a 24-17 upset win over Brownwood. RB Dennis Smith ran for 183 yards and Wimberley recovered two fourth-quarter fumbles by Brownwood to advance to the 3A-II Region I final against Graham.

Class 2A: Kirbyville
Kirbyville's LeFrederick Ford outdueled Arp's Lavocheya Cooper in a battle of two of the best players in Class 2A as Kirbyville emerged with a 27-15 victory. Ford rushed for 247 yards and two touchdowns and the Kirbyville defense held Cooper to 50 rushing yards. Kirbyville advances to face Comfort in the 2A-I state semifinals.

Class 1A: Ganado
Ganado handed La Pryor its first loss of the season when the Indians scored a two-point conversion in overtime to escape with a 29-28 victory. Josh Labay ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns to lead Ganado, and the winning points came on a two-point conversion pass from Jacob Benavides to Wesley Demicelli.

Six-Man: Garden City
Garden City needed a huge offensive performance to beat top-ranked Throckmorton, and that's what the Bearkats got. A 21-yard touchdown pass from Josh Colunga to Aaron Long in the final two minutes gave Garden City the winning points. Colunga also rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns.

Private Schools: Plano Prestonwood
Prestonwood earned a return trip to the TAPPS Division II state championshipo with a hard-fought 28-24 win over Dallas Parish. Prestonwood QB Kaleb Kyser ran for three touchdowns to help his team avenge a regular season loss to Parish. Prestonwood forced three fumbles and held Parish without a pass completion.
