Week 12 Player of the Week
After every weekend of the Texas high school football season, visit this page to find out the candidates for the Player of the Week Award. This honor is awarded to the top performance of the week in Texas High school football. Voting will begin every Monday morning and close Friday at noon.
Week 12 Winner: Olton QB Bobby Workman:
Olton quarterback Bobby Workman almost singlehandedly guided his team to a second-round victory against Stanton.
Workman passed for 438 yards and four touchdowns to key the offense. As if that wasn't enough, he also had two interceptions while playing defense, and he returned one of them for a touchdown to secure a 35-21 victory.
It was the first time in school history that Olton has won two playoff games in the same season. Olton (10-2) advances to face Canadian on Saturday in the Class 1A-Division I Region I championship game.
Week 12 Candidates:
Noah Copeland, SA Brandeis RB: Rushed for 318 yards, 6 TDs in a 51-37 win over Pflugerville.
Mike Davis, Skyline WR: Caught 7 passes for 263 yards, 4 TDs in a 41-36 win over DeSoto.
Layton Dworaczyk, Blanco RB: Rushed for 318 yards, 3 TDs in a 32-13 win over Rogers. He also ran a kickoff back for a TD and caught a 53-yard TD pass. He finished the night with 484 all-purpose yards.
Trent Jackson, Cuero RB: Rushed for 283 yards, 4 TDs in a 53-36 win over Sealy.
Matt Joeckel, Arlington QB: Passed for 237 yards, 5 TDs and rushed for 113 yards, 3 TDs in a 70-42 win over Odessa.
Jeremy Johnson, Tyler John Tyler QB: Rushed for 236 yards, 2 TDs, and passed for 169 yards, 2 TDs in a 53-46 win over Lake Highlands.
Johnny Manziel, Kerrville Tivy QB: Passed for 246 yards, 4 TDs and rushed for 203 yards, 3 TDs in a 63-56 win over Pflugerville Hendrickson.
Bruce Reyes, Beaumont West Brook QB: Passed for 310 yards, 1 TD in a 26-21 win over Fort Bend Hightower.
Cori Sanchez, EP Chapin RB: Rushed for 267 yards, 5 TDs in a 33-14 win over Wolfforth Frenship.
Bobby Workman, Olton QB: Passed for 438 yards, 4 TDs, and intercepted 2 passes, returning 1 for a TD, in a 35-21 win over Stanton.
